ADA San Diego is the united efforts of thousands of San Diegans directly or indirectly affected by diabetes working together to Stop Diabetes.  The American Diabetes Association’s mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all the people affected by diabetes.  Only with your help is this possible!

Current Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports show that diabetes affects 8.3% of all Americans and 11.3% of adults age 20 and older. Some 27% of people with diabetes – 7 million Americans – do not know they have the disease. In 2010, 1.9 million Americans were first diagnosed with diabetes. Pre-diabetes affects 35% of adults age 20 and older, and half of Americans age 65 and older. Pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood glucose (sugar) levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.

We NEED volunteers, blog writers and tweeters, as well as researchers, scientists and thought leaders in diabetes. We also need diabetics. Tell us on our Facebook wall here (http://goo.gl/KEwe6) how you’d like to get involved with ADA San Diego today!

Together we can make a BIGGER difference!

In health,

ADASD
